It never Terminates (Yes, like wikipedia, this also includes ending spoilers)

Once again went to the movies when I 100% absolutely definitely needed to work.

But who cares when it was the last day of semester and the first day of release for Terminator Salvation?!

I liked the movie, despite its many flaws ( e.g. dreadfully long chases, and cheesy long kissing scene). At least it was heaps better than T3.

And once again, this post is just some random thoughts on characters and some small elements of the movie.

This film wasn't as much about John Connor as it was about Marcus and Karl, and laying pavements for the next film -- damn that cheesy ending with the Voice Over saying the war is far from over, duh!

At first I couldn't get the whole point of the build up of the Marcus character when he was only to be sacrificed in the end. But later on as I read IMDB, I realised he was more of the main character than JC. His character had depth, too bad the film makers did not spent so much time dwelling on the importance/dilemmas of this human-transformed-into-cyborg character and his background story. Near the end, he sacrificed himself and gave his heart in order to save JC, but it would be really stupid if they wrote him off just like that, and did not give him a role in future films -- practically one third of the film was about him! I see great potential for this character.

If Skynet cannot be destroyed, then is there some way for humans to compromise, to "evolve" into a new generation/ species? Of course, this is only how I would write it anyway.

Back on track. I think Christian Bale did not expand the JC character much, except appearing to be an asshole. I know, he was fulfilling his role as a leader and he was a good man, but come on, he didn't even respond when Marcus offered to give his heart. How about a "thank you", Batman?

As for his wife...well, just a woman pregnant with the soon-to-be-next protagonist. Getting ready for JC's death in 2032 already?!

And, I first saw Anton Yelchin in the last blog post movie-- Star Trek. I must say, he was good, and even better in Salvation. I'm also hoping to see him in the next film, although that really depends on how they write the script -- he's only 20 at real age playing a teenage character, and can't really pull it off if they decided to fast forward to 2029 (although I highly doubt they will).

Story wise, as aforementioned, it was a film just part of a never-ending series. While it wasn't as bad as T3, I'd still really like to see some more accomplishments. So now that they've blown up the Skynet US base(?), are they going to move up north?? How are they going to stop a computer software that has already penetrated the whole world and will regenerate and multiply in other places as they destroyed one? Damn, that is such a good money making plot! They could introduce Resistance International next time.

As for some minor parts. I thought the idea of the command base in a submarine was pretty cool, although they were extremely stupid to broadcast that radio signal.

Oh and one last thing -- in 2018 post Judgment Day, they still use USB drives and Band-aid!
